ICYMI: Chick-fil-A opens in Travelers Rest
TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — The Travelers Rest Chick-fil-A restaurant will officially open for business on Wed., Sept. 27 at 6 a.m.
Grand opening events will get underway on Tue., Sept. 26 at 6 a.m. with a scavenger hunt, where up to 100 area residents can earn a year supply of Chick-fil-A.
The Travelers Rest Chick-fil-A Scavenger Hunt event is open to guests residing in specific zip codes surrounding the restaurant. A list of eligible zip codes and rules can be found here.
The scavenger hunt does not require participants to camp overnight at the new restaurant to win their year supply of Chick-fil-A. Up to 100 eligible participants (ages 18 and older) will win a digital offer card loaded with a one-year supply of free Chick-fil-A Meals (52 meals with each consisting of a Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich, medium Waffle Potato Fries and a medium beverage).

Registration for the event will begin at 6 a.m., Sept. 26, at the new Chick-fil-A and will continue until 100 eligible participants are registered or until 11 a.m., whichever comes first. If more than 100 people are onsite when the line officially opens at 6 a.m., a drawing will be held to select 100 participants. Those chosen will be required to complete the Scavenger Hunt as designated by the rules with speed not being a factor.
The scavenger hunt will involve activities at sites located within a few miles of the new Chick-fil-A. Participants must return to the restaurant by 3:30 p.m. to show proof of completion and secure their free year supply of Chick-fil-A meals as part of the post-event party that will include games and entertainment and will conclude around 5 p.m.
Prior to the beginning of the scavenger hunt, participants can help pack 10,000 meals prior to formally starting their scavenger hunt at 9 a.m. The community-service event supports Feeding Children Everywhere, a social charity that empowers and mobilizes people to assemble healthy meals for hungry children.
The community is also invited to participate in the children’s book drive being held during grand opening week. The collected books will be donated to a local youth organization and will be placed in a 3-foot Book House, made from reclaimed wood. Since 2014, Chick-fil-A has collected more than 47,497 books that have been donated to 265 local organizations in 43 states and Washington, D.C.
The Travelers Rest Chick-fil-A restaurant features a two-story indoor play area for children and free Wi-Fi. The interior design showcases handmade, authentic materials, including a large gathering table made from reclaimed wood, subway tiles, and a light fixture made from recycled Coca-Cola bottles.
Located at 22 Benton Rd., the restaurant is expected to provide nearly 80 new jobs in Travelers Rest.
