Callie Harris, 89 - Travelers Rest

Callie Pittman Harris, 89, of Travelers Rest, left her earthly home to enter her eternal heavenly home on Sunday, December 31, 2017.

A true southern lady, she was born July 4th, 1928 to Wade Hampton and Pearl Pittman. Callie was a graduate of Mt. View High School and retired from Ebenezer Elementary School. She was a member of Cross Plains Baptist Church for 77 years.

She was married to John Harris for sixty one years until his death in 2007.

She is survived by a son, Gary Harris (Louise) of Travelers Rest; her daughter, Krystal H. Barnes (Greg) of Greer; two beloved sisters, Louise Surett and Pauline Surett; She adored her five grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two sons, Johnny in 1947 and Keith in 2017. She was also predeceased by a great granddaughter, Ansley Barnes; two brothers Jesse and Marvin and two sisters, Geraldine and Betty.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon at Cross Plains Baptist Church with burial to follow in Mountain View Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 PM Thursday at the church prior to the service.

The family will be at the home of her daughter in Greer.
