James Belue, Sr., 86 - Slater

James Allen Belue, Sr., 86, husband of the late Vernie Spicer Belue, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at his home.

Born in Landrum, SC, he was the son of the late Tallie Walker and Bertha Brock Belue. James retired from JP Steven-Slater Plant after 40 years of service; served with Slater-Marietta Fire Department for 50 years, retiring as Commissioner; served as Commissioner of Slater Water Department; served on the Board of Foothills Resources-Slater; member of Slater-Marietta Lions Club; member of Ebenezer Lodge No. 101, A.F.M. in Marietta and a long time member of Slater Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. James loved his Slater community, children of the community and was always giving of his time and talents to those in need.

Surviving is a daughter: Debbie Carpenter and husband Todd; son: James “Jim” Belue, Jr. and wife Gail; sister: Betty Burgess; brothers: Bill and Leon Belue; 5 grandchildren: Casey and Clay Guthrie, Greg Carpenter, Kristen DeShields and Ryan Belue; 7 great-grandchildren: Izzy Guthrie, Brayden Marchese, Findley DeShields, Jude Carpenter, Chloe Guthrie, Josh Guthrie and Abby Guthrie.

Along with his parents and wife, James was predeceased by a daughter: Anne Guthrie; sister: Jean Connor and a brother: Jake Belue.

Visitation will be on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 10 until 10:45 a.m. at the Howze Mortuary.

Funeral Service will follow the visitation in The Howze Mortuary Chapel at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will be at Mountain View Memorial Park.
