Travelers Rest councilmembers name new city administrator

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — Travelers Rest councilmembers on Thursday named a new city administrator, filling the position previously held by Dianna Gracely, who recently stepped down to accept the Simpsonville city administrator position.

In a unanimous vote following a brief executive session, councilmembers chose Eric Vinson to assume Travelers Rest's leadership position.

A Greenville County native with 19 years of experience in governmental roles, Vinson has most recently served as the zoning administrator for the city of Greenville and, previous to that, as director of planning and building codes for Greenville County.

"We are excited to have all nine members come together as one," Mayor Brandy Amidon said.  "We all want the best for Travelers Rest, and we feel like we picked the perfect person."

Vinson thanked members of the council for their trust and for the opportunity to serve the citizens of Travelers Rest, adding that he "looked forward to building upon a strong foundation."

Vinson will officially start on May 14, 2018.
