Pickens County man killed in Highway 11 crash

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — A 54-year-old Pickens County man died following a single vehicle crash on Hwy.  11 around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, according to the Greenville County Coroner's Office.

Michael Eldin Jenkins was driving on Hwy. 11 when his vehicle ran off the road, striking several trees near the intersection of Lindsey Road, located east of Landrum, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Jenkins, who was pronounced dead on the scene, was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, the coroner's office reported.

An autopsy is pending.
