TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — The Travelers Rest Historical Society will hold a quarterly meeting beginning at 7 p.m. on Tue., Aug. 21 at Travelers Rest City Hall, located at 6711 State Park Road.

The program will feature a presentation by Richard Sawyer entitled "What happened in Travelers Rest 100 years ago?".

A mystery until the end of the program, attendees will learn about an event that caused much excitement in Travelers Rest, bringing about 2,000 people to town. Machine gun fire? Troops from Greenville's Camp Sevier sent to town on the Swamp Rabbit?

Everyone at the meeting will receive a surprise gift (while supplies last).

The meeting is free and open to the public.
