Travelers Rest names new police chief
TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — Travelers Rest city council members on Thursday appointed Benjamin Ford, a Mauldin police sergeant, to be the new police chief.
Ford has a total of 19 years in law enforcement, 13 of which were with the city of Mauldin. He will begin on Dec. 18 and will be sworn in at the Dec. 20 city council meeting.
Ford, a current Travelers Rest resident and graduate of Travelers Rest High School, replaces former Chief Lance Crowe, who retired in September after 12+ years of city service.
