Moped operator killed in Travelers Rest hit-and-run wreck

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — A 49-year-old moped operator was killed on Sunday evening when he was struck on Hwy. 25 near McKinney Road, just north of Travelers Rest.

Kevin Wesley Brooks, of Circle Street in Travelers Rest, was traveling northbound around 9 p.m. when he was struck by multiple vehicles, coroner B. Parks Evans said.

S.C. Highway Patrol troopers said a vehicle believed to be an older model pickup hit the moped, causing the driver to be ejected. (See below.)
