GREENVILLE, S.C. — Paris Mountain State Park will hold a School Program Volunteer Orientation on Tues., Aug. 27 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
School program volunteers are naturalists at heart who want to share the wonders of nature with second- and fifth-graders in the park’s "Discover Carolina" school programs, according to Ranger Cathy Taylor.

Volunteers sign up for days that work with their schedule, often just one to three times per month, Taylor said.
Discover Carolina volunteers perform a variety of functions, including assisting students with measurements and observations, leading second-graders on nature hikes around Lake Placid, assisting in a forest ecology program, and delivering pre-visit kits to area schools.
At the Aug. 27th session, Taylor and seasoned volunteers will train participants for the spring season. Registration is required.
Paris Mountain State Park is located at 2401 State Park Road. Summer admission is $3 for ages 6 – 15, $5 for ages 16 – 64, $3.25 for S.C. seniors and disabled persons. Children under the age of 6 are free.
