Robotics team recognized in Travelers Rest
TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — The Travelers Rest FIRST Lego League robotics team, Lego Busters, was recognized with a mayoral proclamation at Thursday's city council meeting.
In November of last year, the team captured first place in a statewide qualifier, earning them a spot at the SC West State Championship.
The team placed third in the state championship and will compete at an international invitational tournament in Montevideo, Uruguay, at the end of May. The only South Carolinian team that received an invitation and one of only five teams in the United States to be invited, the team will be competing against 70 teams from 35 countries.

The Lego Busters team includes Noah Earle (14), Isaiah Earle (12), Rhys Solomon (15), John Molfenter (11), Tristan Staggs (10), and Isaac Forsythe (15).
Travelers Rest Mayor Brandy Amidon proclaimed Fri., April 19 as Lego Busters day in Travelers Rest.
"The city of Travelers Rest is proudly represented by a team of talented and smart students ready to complete internationally and to proudly represent our city, state, and country," said Mayor Brandy Amidon.
