Area resident recognized for volunteerism

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — Area resident Jeff Cox was recognized with a mayoral proclamation at last Thursday's Travelers Rest city council meeting.

Since 2015, Cox has helped organize citywide cleanups, and much of his free time is spent picking up trash along Travelers Rest's busy roadways, oftentimes unassisted.

Cox is also active with the Let's Keep TR Beautiful organization, contributing his woodworking talents to making the LKTRB beautification signs and partnering in the cigarette butt receptacle project, among other things.

Travelers Rest Mayor Brandy Amidon proclaimed Thurs., April 18 as Jeff Cox day in Travelers Rest.

"Jeff has been a huge supporter of Let's Keep TR Beautiful initiatives and is an inspiration to others for all his hard work cleaning up trash in town," said Mayor Brandy Amidon. "The entire community benefits from the valuable contributions that Jeff and volunteers like him make by sharing their time, energy and abilities."
