Meals on Wheels volunteers needed in Travelers Rest
TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — Meals on Wheels of Greenville is currently seeking volunteers for meal delivery routes in Travelers Rest. Currently, there are 12 routes throughout Travelers Rest that are served each weekday.
Meals on Wheels provides free meals to individuals that have been referred to the organization by a physician or social service agency, and there is a growing base of clients in the greater Travelers Rest area, according to Muriel Taylor, Director of Volunteers and Community Engagement.

“For such a small commitment, you’re making an incredible impact by delivering a meal and a smile to someone in need,” Taylor said. “Our clients not only rely on the food, but the visit also feeds their soul and means so much to them.”
Driver openings are available Monday through Friday, and Meals on Wheels will work with prospective volunteers to find compatible routes that work with their schedule, availability, and location.

In the Travelers Rest area, meals are brought to the First Baptist Church of Travelers Rest each weekday at 11:00 a.m. Volunteers can sign up to help distribute meals once a week, once a month or somewhere in between.
Delivery on a normal route usually takes 1 to 1.5 hours, Taylor said.
In addition to individuals, volunteering for Meals on Wheels is also a great opportunity for families, groups, churches, organizations, and corporations.
