Clarence Lee Allison, 95

Clarence Lee Allison, age 95, formerly of Marietta, SC, husband of the late Ima Bell McClure Allison went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 7, 2019.

A native of Madison County, NC, Mr. Allison was born May 10, 1924.  He was the eldest  son of Grover C. Allison & Velma Norris Allison.

He is survived by his children Sidney L. Allison (Carol Ann), Isle of Palms, SC; Carolyn Allison Shepherd, Jonesborough, TN; and Stanley C. Allison (Kathy), Mt. Pleasant, SC.

He and his wife were active members of Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Marietta, SC, for over 60 years. Throughout his life, he lived by the priorities of Faith, Family and Friends.  He loved and enjoyed, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  As a young man, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and worked building improvements to the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, some of which are still in use to this day.  In 1942 he joined the US Army and served in the Asiatic-Pacific theater, participating the liberation of the Philippine Islands.  He was wounded in battle on Corragidor Island on 16 February 1945.  Throughout his life he was a soldier at heart and a proud member of the “Greatest Generation”,

Mr. Allison is also survived by his grandchildren, Renee Allison-Riley (Eddie), Griffin Allison, Mary Elizabeth Allison-Walker (Bradford), Sheri Shepherd-Pratt (Chris), Dr.  Julie Shepherd-Powell (Adrian), Kate Allison Wilkins (Stuart) and Leigh Allison. Seven great grandchildren survive him: Sidney Clare Riley, Jackson Riley, Nora Allison Shepherd-Powell, Oliver D. Shepherd-Powell, Braxton Allison, Curren Allison, and Porter Allison.

Family members will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 am Monday, October 14, 2019 at Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Marietta, SC. Memorial funeral services will follow at 11:00 am Monday at the church.  Pastor Dean Patton will be officiating. Burial will follow the service at Mountain View Memorial Park in Travelers Rest, SC.

Music will be provided by organist Frankie Pace and pianist Amy Dockins, Adrian Shepherd-Powell and Nora Shepherd-Powell.

Pallbearers include, Griffin Allison, Chris Shepherd-Pratt, Adrian Shepherd-Powell, Eddie Riley Bradford Walker, Stuart Wilkins and Ty Youngblood.  Honorary pallbearers will be Walnut Grove Men’s Bible Class.
