Lois Shockley, 89 - Travelers Rest

Lois Emily Poole Shockley, 89, of Travelers Rest, SC, wife of the late Oscar Coleman Shockley passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at McCall Hospice House.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Erwin Amos and Emily Jones Poole. Mrs. Shockley worked in the office at Renfrew Bleachery; was a Secretary for many years at Johnson Funeral Home and she retired from Furman University where she worked in Food Service. She was a member of the Eastern Star and a charter member of Foothills Baptist Church.

Surviving are five sons: Walter Shockley, Milton Shockley, Mike Shockley, Stephen Shockley and Donald Shockley; one sister, Ethel Allen; 13 grandchildren: Ann, Emily, Walter, Jr., Sara, Ambyr, Abby, Ruby, Nathan, Amanda, Stephanie, Caitlin, Emily and Haley; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by six sisters: Dalco Baker, Avie Bishop, Tessie Mae Poole, Grace Robertson, Fannie Hawkins, and Hazel Bayne along with three brothers: Sheldon Poole, Major Poole and Newman Poole.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon, December 2nd, at The Howze Mortuary Chapel with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:50 PM Monday at the mortuary prior to the service.

The family will be at their respective homes.
