Lady Devildogs defeat Riverside 54-34

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — The Travelers Rest High School Lady Devildogs basketball team defeated the Riverside Warriors 54-34 Thursday night. Coach Lindsay Baber’s team is now 4-1 on the season.
The Lady Devildogs led 16-2 at the end of the first quarter. Mallory Bruce, who led Travelers Rest in scoring with 16 points, scored six straight points on back-to-back three-point plays at the end of the first quarter.

The Lady Devildogs continued their strong start, opening up a 25-2 lead midway through the second quarter. Travelers Rest led 29-10 at halftime.
In the second half, the Lady Devildogs continued their strong defensive effort, increasing their lead to 44-20 on another Bruce three-point play near the end of the third quarter. Travelers Rest outscored Riverside 10-7 in the fourth quarter.
Hannah Bruce added 15 points and Kloey Pickens contributed eight.
Coach Baber praised her team’s defense, noting “the hard work and playing together paid off. We have versatile players who can play inside or outside. Our quick start tonight was keyed by our defense.”
The Lady Devildogs will play Blacksburg High School in the Farm Bureau Tip-Off Classic this Saturday at Dorman High School in Roebuck at 4 p.m.
