Paul Piper, 71 - Travelers Rest

Paul Preston Piper, 71, of Travelers Rest, passed away, Friday, January 17, 2020.

Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Elmer David and Naomi Werner Piper. Mr. Piper served in the US Army, worked at the Model Train Station in Taylors, and was member of Taylors First Baptist Church, where he was active in the Link Life Group.

If you talked with Paul for very long you would soon know he loved to sing in the choir praising his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He also loved his family and would talk of their recent activities and accomplishments, bragging just a little. He would soon pull out 2 business cards to share with you.

One would have information about "my Dad's Library", a collection of sermons and songs on the internet (elmerpiperlibrary.com) recorded during his dad's years of pastoring and evangelism. With the other card he would tell you of the Model Trains Station in the Taylor's Mill which he also help construct and maintain (modeltrainsstation.com). And, of course, he would tell you about his latest golf game!

Surviving are his wife: Linda Bates Piper; two sons: Phillip David Piper (Cyndi), and Stephen Earl Piper (Tina Marie); three sisters: Nancy Roberts (Fred), Sharon Duncan (Larry), and Pam Hall (John); and six grandchildren: Taylor Bailey (Dakota), Kaera Martin, Zane Piper, Ana Piper, Chloe Piper, and Josiah Piper.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 21, 2020 from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Taylors First Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Taylors First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Reach Trip Ministry at Taylors First Baptist Church, 200 West Main St., Taylors, SC 29687, or The Model Trains Station, 250 Mill St., Suite BL1250, Taylors, SC 29687.
