Updated: Travelers Rest man found dead in vacant northern Greenville County home

(Updated 02/18/20, 6 p.m.):

CLEVELAND, S.C. — Deputies with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office are investigating after a Travelers Rest man's body was discovered at a vacant northern Greenville County home, according to Lt. Ryan Flood.

Flood said deputies got a call about 8:30 p.m. Monday about a possible body at an unoccupied home on Table Rock Road in Cleveland.

Flood said they found the man's body inside the home and an investigation is underway, adding that the cause of death was "suspicious."

The Greenville County Coroner's Office has identified the man as 67-year-old Mark Dewey Bailey.

According to coroner B. Parks Evans, Bailey died at his Geer Highway home in Travelers Rest. It is unclear at this time when or why his body was moved.

The cause and estimated time of death is pending investigation and final autopsy, the coroner said.
