Nancy Self, 71- Travelers Rest

Nancy Gale (Cody) Self, 71, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 11, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Greenville County, SC, she was the daughter of the late L.D. Cody and Nancy Ellen (Poole) Cody. Nancy was a loving mother, grandmother and sister and enjoyed working with her sister at the Echo Valley Trading Post in Cleveland, SC and attended Travelers Rest Church of the Brethren.

Nancy is survived by her daughters: Rhonda West, Traci West Willard and Margo Self; step-daughters: Kathy Reeves and Melissa Tatum; sisters: Margaret Cody Coster and Vickie Kemp; brothers: Bobby Cody and Robbie Cody; 3 grandchildren: Cody (Christina) Durham, Alexis James (Dakota) and Hunter Whitmire; 2 great-grandchildren: Cayden and Carter Durham and her loving companion, John Moore of the home.

Along with her parents, Nancy was also predeceased by her husband, James Edward Self; brothers: James Gosnell, Randy “Buster” Cody and Tony Cody; stepson: Jimmy Self.

A memorial service to celebrate Nancy’s life will be held at a later date as soon as community precautions for the COVID-19 virus have been lifted. The information about the memorial service will be released via The Howze Mortuary website.
