Ethel Lister, 90 - Travelers Rest

Ethel Mae Hess Justice Lister, 90, of Travelers Rest, SC, and formerly from Honaker, VA, died Monday, April 27, 2020, at Easley Place Assisted Living Facility in Easley, SC.

Her loving family of six children, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren can take some solace in their grief knowing that she is reunited with her loving parents, Bev and Josie Hess, and her sisters, Tella Sue and Bertha Lee.

Born on June 4, 1929, Ethel was a woman whose strength was shown as she fought death several times during her lifetime. Polio, an automobile accident, and an aneurysm did not shorten her life. She fought through those adversities and many more to live a long and productive life of 90 years.

By their fruits you will know them. Ethel had a real green thumb. She loved vegetable gardening and any flower she planted would bloom, but the thing she grew the best was family. Ethel’s favorite thing during her time on Earth was to be surrounded by her family, and a large family it is.

She leaves behind her children: Sylvia Johnston (David); Gerald Justice (Judy); Jerry Justice (Patty); Sharon Williams (Danny); Sandy Sanders (Bill); Sherry Edwards (Jeff); her grandchildren: Dave Johnston (Amanda); Lisa Thomas (Scottie); Melissa McGlothlin (Rocky); Janette Comer (Rob); Connie White (Steven); Rodney Justice, Heather Bruner (Lesley); Allison Brown (Gary); Jamie Moon (Hayley); Jason Moon (Tiffany); Robyn Bivens; Nate Edwards (KrisAnne); Wilson Edwards; her great-grandchildren: Mackenzie, Madison, Oliver, Dakota, Kiaira, Kolby, Josie, Eli, Sophie, Justin, Royce, Heidi, Abigail, Benjamin, Hannah, Ryanne, Jacob, Elizabeth, Chase, Sammy, Preston, and Raegan; as well as Great-Great Grandchildren: Saylor, and Trentyn.

Ethel is survived by eight siblings: Burke Hess (Virginia); Curtis Hess (Ann); Earl Hess (Mary); Charles Hess; Mary Frances Taylor; Ruba Slate; Gladys May (Bill); and Ruth Hale.

A "Limited Access" Visitation will be held Friday, May 1, 2020, at the Funeral Home from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM. Graveside Services will follow immediately afterward at 3:00 P.M. at Bethany Baptist Church in Travelers Rest.
