Glassy Mountain FD hosting family fun day Saturday

LANDRUM, S.C. – Glassy Mountain Fire Department will host a community family fun day on Saturday, May 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at their headquarters station, located at 2015 U.S. Hwy. 11 in Landrum SC.

According to organizers, the event will include fire and safety demonstrations, games and free food.

Scheduled activities include S.C. Highway Patrol's rollover simulator demonstrations, Greenville County's Emergency Response Team Truck 5 demonstrating rope rescue, CPR demonstrations, SAFE Kids Buddy's House education and home fire escape drills in the fire prevention trailer.

"We believe that ongoing education of the community is one of the keys to fire safety and prevention, and we think an educational community family fun day is a great way to involve the whole family,” said Tiffany Haynes, GMFD fire and life safety educator and firefighter/EMT.

Free smoke detectors will be available for district residents who might not otherwise be able to afford them.
