Pedestrian struck, killed on Geer Highway in Marietta

MARIETTA, S.C. — A 68-year-old Marietta man was killed when he was struck by an SUV on Geer Highway on Saturday evening.

According to the Greenville County Coroner's Office, James William Pruitt was trying to cross the roadway near it's intersection with Guest Street around 8 p.m. when he was fatally struck.

The coroner says that an external examination is scheduled for Monday to determine the cause of death. 

The incident remains under investigation by the Greenville County Coroner's Office and SCHP.
