George Hyder, 84 - Cleveland

George Robert Hyder, 84, of Cleveland, SC, widower of the late Mary Ellen Hampton Hyder, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 19, 2021.

Born in Kingsport, TN, he was a son of the late James King Hyder and the late Lonnie Clark Hyder. George was a self-employed Sawyer and Grading Contractor. His passion was entertaining people with his banjo and guitar music and teaching the things he had learned in his life like woodworking and molasses making. There wasn’t much he didn’t know how to do. He was a member of Peters Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving are four children, Rosie Newton (Maxs), Robert Hyder, Jr. (Pam), James King Hyder (Penny) and Curtis Hyder; one brother, Boyce Hyder; nine grandchildren, Shannon Deck (Kip), Brian Laws, Allen Newton (Lyndsay), Crystal Newton (Ali), Kevin Hyder, Kelly Hyder, Sunshine Dennis (Warren), James King Hyder, Jr. (Toni) and Charlotte Benge (Clyde) and 14 great grandchildren, Evan Crooks, Emilie Smith, Madison Sisk, Olive Newton, Ivy Newton, Scarlett Newton, Noah Hyder (Madison), Ashlynn Hyder, Hannah Dennis, Andrew Dennis, Abby Jo Dennis, Lily Hyder, Ivy Hyder and Caroline Benge.

In addition to his parents he was pre-deceased by sons, Franklin Hyder, Medford Hyder; a daughter, Mary Ann Hyder; a sister, Thelma Helton and five brothers, Paul Hyder, Sam Hyder, Wade Hyder, JB Clark and Frank Clark.

The family will receive friends from 1pm until 2pm Friday, January 22, 2021, at Peters Creek Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm Friday, January 22, 2021 at Peters Creek Baptist Church with burial to follow in Jones Hill Church of God Cemetery.

The family will be at their respective homes.
