Joel Poole, 72 - Slater

Reverend Joel Wayne Poole, 72, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Slater, SC, he was the son of the late Ralph and Georgia Chandler Poole. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS Hornet Aircraft Carrier. He retired from being a pastor for over thirty years after ministering at several churches in the state and was a member of O’Neal Church of God.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Libby Johnson Poole; a son: Roger Poole (Nikki Baker); a daughter: Sabrina Brown (Johnny); a sister: Stacy Owen (Dennis); five grandchildren: Gabrielle Hagan (Troy), Jordan Poole (Sara), Kathryn Hembree (Chase); Madison Brown, and Chayton Baker; and five loving great-grandchildren: Ryleigh, Jase, Antonio, River, and Melody.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters: Donna Cook and Kathy Young.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday morning June 2, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at O’Neal Church of God.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. officiated by Reverend Tim McConnell and Reverend Trey Thompson at O’Neal Church of God and burial will follow in Coleman Memorial Cemetery in Travelers Rest with Military Honors.
The family will be at the home.
