Nell Hopkins Hart, 95 - Travelers Rest

Nell Hopkins Hart, 95, passed away on June 6, 2021, in Greensboro, NC.

Nell was born in Greenville, SC and was the daughter of Charles David Hopkins and Della Bishop Hopkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James B. Hart, Sr.; her son, Mark David Hart; her grandson, James B. Hart, III and her siblings Doug Hopkins, Doris Christian, and Teresa Hopkins.

Nell is survived by her son, James B. Hart, Jr., and his wife, Shirley; granddaughter, Tracy Hart Walrond and great-granddaughters, Grace Ann Walrond and Emma Elizabeth Walrond.

Nell graduated Parker High School in Greenville, SC and became the wife of a WWII Marine. She was very active in the PTAs of her sons, both of whom graduated from The University of South Carolina. She worked in Better Women’s Wear at Sears-Roebuck and part-time as a switchboard operator at the Greenville News-Piedmont. She volunteered at the hospital in Greenville. She was an avid walker and enjoyed working out at the YMCA in Travelers Rest, SC. She loved doing her yardwork and always had a beautiful lawn and flowers. She was a long-time member of Leawood Baptist Church in Greenville.

Nell moved to Greensboro, NC in 2007 to be near her son and his family where she became a member of Pleasant Garden Baptist Church. Her greatest joy in Greensboro was spending time with her great-granddaughters and watching them grow into wonderful young women.

Graveside services will be Thursday, June 10, 2021, at 10am at Enoree Baptist Church Cemetery in Travelers Rest, SC.
