John “Joe” Lingerfelt, 83 - Marietta

John Stokes “Joe” Lingerfelt, 83, of Marietta, SC, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at his home.

Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Stokes and Mary Moody Lingerfelt. Joe was retired from the Greenville Water System, where he was a heavy equipment operator; he was an avid golfer; a lover of all things racing and a member of Marietta First Baptist Church.

Surviving is his wife of 47 years, Elaine Lesley Lingerfelt; three children, Sharon Edge (Philip), Alan Harris (Toni), and Michael “Mike” Lingerfelt (Gayle); three grandchildren, Sara Gilstrap (Matthew), Jessica Newman (Trey) and Chris Harris and four great grandchildren, Lilla Maxwell, Natalie Gilstrap, Annestasia Newman, and Brighton Newman.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon in The Howze Mortuary Chapel with burial to follow in Mountain View Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 pm Monday at the mortuary prior to the service.
