Travelers Rest police take armed woman into custody

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – Travelers Rest police said they responded to a home on Summitbluff Drive around 8:40 Thursday morning in response to a call about a woman with a gun.

Chief Lance Crowe said an officer eventually utilized a "less lethal" means to take the woman into custody, but he would not elaborate on the means.

The woman was transported by ambulance to Greenville Memorial Hospital for evaluation.

Crowe said he requested an independent investigation, and the State Law Enforcement Division was called to the scene.
