Trailblazer Park to host an evening of jazz on Saturday
TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – Trailblazer Park's inaugural Music in the Park series continues Saturday, June 14 with the Matt Olson Quartet.
Equally at home as a jazz and classical saxophonist, Olson is associate professor of saxophone and director of jazz studies at Furman University. His musical talents have taken him to the Montreal Jazz Festival as well as to Chicago's Jazz Showcase and Orchestra Hall.
The performance will include Olson's original jazz compositions and music from the Great American Songbook, a canon of popular songs written from the 1920s through the 1950s, principally from Broadway theatre, musical theatre and Hollywood musical film.
The June 14 concert is free, as are all concerts in the Trailblazer Park music series. Food vendors and the craft beer stand open at 6 p.m. The music starts at 7 p.m.
Trailblazer Park is located at 115 Wilhelm Winter St., accessible by Highways 25 and 276 as well as the GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail.
No pets, coolers or smoking are allowed at the Music in the Park events.
