Firefighters rescue paraglider from atop tree

TIGERVILLE, S.C. – Tigerville firefighters rescued a paraglider that crashed into a tree on Lindsey Bridge Road around 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

The man was about 60 feet up in the tree, and firefighters initiated a “technical rescue” to get the man safely to the ground, according to Tigerville Fire Chief Russell Ledford.

The paraglider escaped serious injury, suffering only a few minor scratches, Ledford said.

It is unclear at this time where the man began his flight.
