Travelers Rest woman, Easley man charged in house fire
TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – A Easley man and a Travelers Rest woman were arrested on multiple felony charges in connection with a house fire that agents with the S.C. Law Enforcement Division say was part of an attempted murder plot.
According to warrants, an incendiary device sparked a fire in an Easley home early Monday morning while three people were asleep inside the residence.
Warrants allege that 22-year-old Alexander Tuckey Dillard started the fire to prevent the occupants from testifying in a trial set for Monday.
Dillard is charged with third-degree arson, attempted murder, 10 counts of manufacturing a destruction device and intimidation of a witness. If convicted, he could face up to 80 years in prison.
Alexis Jade Adams, 18, is charged with conspiracy, which carries a penalty of up to five years in prison, and accessory to a felony, which carries the same penalty as the principal felon in the case, according to SLED.
Warrants allege that Adams knew of Dillard's plans and that she was with with Dillard when he purchased items to make the incendiary devices.
SLED investigated the case at the request of the Easley Fire Dept. The case will be prosecuted by the 13th Circuit Solicitor's Office.
