Annual Art on the Trail festival expands for 2014
TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – The Travelers Rest Artists Alliance annual Art on the Trail festival is expanding in 2014, according to organizers.
Scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 25, the family-friendly event includes an art market, music, performing arts, children’s art activities and a food court.
New this year, the main vendor and festival area will be at Trailblazer Park, and a free trolley will run from the venue to downtown Travelers Rest, where Shop Hop participants, performing artists and other activities will be located throughout the day.
At Trailblazer Park, musical acts will be performing at the amphitheater, and the festival grounds will feature Upcycle Alley, an area dedicated to artists that make things using vintage and otherwise discarded items. The Art of Food, featuring creative food demonstrations and artful culinary displays, will be held in the covered pavilion.
In 2013, more than 50 artists participated in the event with works ranging from contemporary glass mobiles and hand-woven scarves to modern pottery, acrylic paintings, hand-crafted jewelry, stained glass mosaics, garden art and more.
If you are interested in becoming a participating artist, applications for the third annual are available online at the Art on the Trail website here. The application deadline is Aug. 29.
