Saturday: Farmers Market to host 'Bike Day' celebration, taste-off

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – The Travelers Rest Farmers Market will host a “Bike Day and Tomato Sandwich Taste-off” event on Saturday, July 26 from 9 a.m. to noon.

In addition to the 50+ market vendors, the mid-season celebration will include:

• A vintage bike show;

• A bike course race hosted by the Greenville County Recreation District;

• Sunrift Adventure will be on hand with swag and gear;

Bamboo bike test rides by WebbWorks;

• Momentum Bike Club will have a stationary bike race fundraiser and an art display from youth to communicate what an impact having a bike has made on their lives;

• Upstate Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association will host an Alley Cat; and

• Hincapie Sportswear and Hotel Domestique will host a program for road bikes.

From 10:30 to noon, area chefs will compete in the Top Chef Tomato Taste-off, with a public vote and a panel of judges determining “the Upstate's most tasty tomato creation between two slices of bread.”

Participating taste-off restaurants/chefs include: Hungry Drover, Whistle Stop at the American Cafe, Cafe at Williams Hardware Cafe, Swamp Rabbit Grocery, Upcountry Provisions, Shortfields, Restaurant 17, Robyn Glenn and Healthy Farms.
