High-ranking Greenville Co. officer fired, under investigation
GREENVILLE, S.C. – A high-ranking officer with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office has been terminated and is under investigation, according to Sheriff Steve Loftis.
Maj. Shea Smith was terminated on Thursday for "violating Sheriff's Office regulations and rules.”
No further details have been released, but Loftis confirmed that a criminal investigation is now being conducted.
Smith, 44, has been with the Sheriff's Office for at least 20 years, according to a report in The Greenville News.
