Thursday: Participants sought for WWII 'Recollections and Remembrances' interviews

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – Area residents can be a part of history as the Travelers Rest Historical Society hosts "Recollections and Remembrances”, a Spirit of '45 event being held at Reedy River Baptist Church on Thursday, Aug. 7 from 10 - 11:30 a.m.

If you can remember August 14, 1945, the day that marks the end of World War II, you're invited to participate in a short, recorded interview conducted by Dick Jensen, founder of Travelers Rest-based First Foundations.

Both veterans and citizens are encouraged to take part in the interviews, which will be included in the society's permanent archives.

Reedy River Baptist Church is located at 871 Bypass Highway 25 N, just south of Travelers Rest city limits. No appointment is necessary to participate in the interview process.

Now in its fourth year, the Upstate Spirit of '45 commemoration, which first began in 2011 with a public ceremony at Travelers Rest City Hall, is now a multi-day event honoring veterans of World War II and celebrating the accomplishments of our “greatest generation," including those that fought and the ordinary heroes who worked at home to aid the war effort.
