Hotel Domestique makes Fodor's '10 best hotels in unexpected places' list
TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – Northern Greenville County's Hotel Domestique was recently named to the Fodor's Travel “10 best hotels in unexpected places” list, joining an exclusive list of hotels from around the world.
From Fodors.com:
“If you're the kind of person who doesn't like to sit still on vacation, then book a stay at Hotel Domestique. This 13-room modern property, located in the Blue Ridge Mountains, has a huge selection of bike trails in the area, with routes hand-picked by 17-time Tour de France cycler George Hincapie. To explore the nearby vineyards, guests can rent a high-end Carbon BMC bike for a hosted group ride, or break a sweat at the fitness studio or the pool. The guest room décor is a mix of Mediterranean and modern; rooms have wrought-iron beds, French doors, and soaking tubs to help ease sore muscles.”
Other hotels to make the top-10 list include the Refugia Lodge, in Chile; Fogo Island Inn, in Newfoundland; Amanoi, in Vietnam; and the ION Luxury Adventure Hotel, in Iceland.
Since its opening in summer 2013, Hotel Domestique has gained recognition from the likes of Forbes, Outside, and Men's Journal. Earlier this year, it was one of nine hotels named to Southern Living's "best new hotels" list.
"To be sure, the boutique hotel’s location is one of its strengths, as is its ties to the cycling community," we wrote at the time. "And it’s no wonder, as big-name cyclist George Hincapie and his brother, Rich, were responsible for the site’s transformation from a Cliffs amenity to a destination in itself."
