Sheriff's Office to begin school zone patrols Tuesday

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. – Greenville County students begin the school year Tuesday, and the Sheriff's Office is asking drivers to use caution and slow down while approaching and passing through school zones.

In an effort to ensure the safety of students, deputies will be "aggressively patrolling" around schools during the morning and afternoon school zone hours, according to Master Deputy Jonathan Smith.

"School zones are clearly marked throughout the county by flashing yellow caution lights and/or posted signs bearing the hours in which the school zones are in effect and enforceable," Smith said in a media release. "The traffic unit will be on the look out for speeders and any other traffic violation that could endanger the safety of the children of Greenville County."
