James Henry Murray, 88 - Travelers Rest
James Henry Murray, 88, of Travelers Rest, husband of Doris Elizabeth Lawson Murray, died Tuesday, August 26, 2014.
Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late James Franklin and Pearl Cartee Murray.
Mr. Murray served in the US Army during WWII and later retired from the Dan River Mill after 40 years of employment. He was a member of Travelers Rest Church of God.
James was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a daughter, Joyce Baden-Nuttall; two sons, James F. Murray and Jerald Murray; a stepdaughter, Cindy Hinton; two stepsons, Robert Sewell and Ray Sewell; thirteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a brother, R.C. Murray.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Murray; and a sister, Pauline Johnson.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 30, 2014 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest with the funeral service following at 1:30 p.m. in the Northwest Chapel. Burial will follow in Graceland West Cemetery.
