Ends Friday: Chamber seeks Citizen of the Year nominations from area residents

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – The Greater Travelers Rest Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations from area residents for the annual Citizen of the Year award.

The award, sponsored by the Bank of Travelers Rest, is presented to someone who has gone above and beyond in recent times to improve the quality of life in our community.

In 2013, Travelers Rest-based Wisdom in Living Life Ministry founder Winn Freeman was named the award recipient. Freeman's faith-based, non-denominational recovery ministry provides services and weekly classes for both men and women, emphasizing not only substance abuse prevention, but also training and post-recovery counseling for those overcoming drug and alcohol addiction.

A nomination form is available for download here. The nomination deadline is Friday, Oct. 24, and forms can be returned to any Bank of Travelers Rest location.

A nominating committee will determine the winner, who will be announced at a banquet to be held in November at Green Valley Country Club.
