Geer Highway unicorn toppled, reward offered

MARIETTA, S.C. – A Marietta woman said vandals recently toppled a large statue of a unicorn that stands in her front yard along Geer Highway, just north of Marietta.

Cindy Stamey said somebody tipped over the wooden unicorn, which is about as tall as a large horse, during the night on Aug. 23.

The fall broke the unicorn in several places, and a piece of equipment had to be used to stand the statue back up. Numerous repairs by the piece's creator were required, Stamey said.

“She is a huge attraction,” she said, adding that hundreds of people have had their picture taken with the unicorn.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Greenville County Sheriff's Office at 864-23-CRIME.

Stamey said a $200 reward will be given to anyone who comes forward with information that leads to an arrest.
