UPDATED: Death of 3-month-old ruled accidental

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – The death of a 3-month-old in northern Greenville County on Saturday evening has been ruled accidental, according to the Greenville County Coroner's Office.

Coroner Parks Evans said the infant, Jacob Joel Ford, was killed after reportedly falling from and being struck by a truck around 7:30 p.m. at a home on Carman Trail, off U.S. Hwy. 25 north of Travelers Rest.

Evans said a 12-year-old girl was holding the baby in the passenger seat with the door open and the truck, which was thought to have been in park, started rolling back. The two fell out, and Ford was run over.

Evans said family members initially drove the infant to North Greenville Hospital. He was transferred by ambulance to Greenville Memorial Hospital, where he later died.
