Edgar Ervin Garrett, 83 - Travelers Rest

Edgar Ervin Garrett, 83, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Greenville Health System.

Born on October 27, 1930 in Laurens County, he was the son of the late Clayton Eugene and Lillie E. Green Garrett. He was a member of Forestville Baptist Church, was retired from Westpoint Stevens Trucking Company and served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Garrett was an honest and generous person, who enjoyed farming and baking homemade bread.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Doris Gregory Garrett; 1 daughter, Tammy Johnson; 1 sister, Maxine Franzese; 2 grandsons, Christopher Wayne Johnson and Bradley Hunter Johnson; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Along with his parents, Mr. Garrett was also predeceased by 4 siblings.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 3 p.m. at Forestville Baptist Church.

Mr. Garrett held a special place in his heart for children, the family requests for memorials to be made in his honor to Shriners Children’s Hospital, 950 West Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605.
