Flat Rock Playhouse kicks off holiday season with classic tale

FLAT ROCK, N.C. – Flat Rock Playhouse will kick off the holiday season with the Charles Dickens’ classic tale, A Christmas Carol, on the Clyde and Nina Allen Mainstage beginning Nov. 20 and running through Dec. 21.

The perennial favorite literally comes to life on the stage in a spectacular new production featuring all the classic elements along with a few new twists.  It tells the story of bitter old miser Ebenezer Scrooge and his transformation resulting from supernatural visits by Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future. The industrial setting of 19th century England gives way to a story filled with hope and joy with original songs and amazing puppetry. All the well-known characters retell the magical and uplifting story from “Bah! Humbug!” to “God bless us, everyone!”

Amy Jones will return to Flat Rock Playhouse for her 16th consecutive season to direct the show. She has shared her talents at the Playhouse as an actor, director, and choreographer throughout her tenure. Dave Hart, YouTheatre artistic director, will serve as associate director.

The cast features Peter Thomasson as Scrooge, Willie Repoley as Bob Crachit, and Landon Wells, Liam Teague and Oliver King in the role of Tiny Tim (in rotating performances). The cast also includes Scott Pattison, Scott Cote, Preston Dyar, Steve Carlisle, Jarid Faubel, Stephanie Wahl, Jane Bushway, Maria Buchanan, Julian VanderVeen, and Beth Kuhn.
