Devildog Anglers open tournament season Saturday on Lake Hartwell
TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – The Travelers Rest Devildog Anglers will open the 2023-24 tournament season on Sat., Sept. 22 on Lake Hartwell in Anderson.
The road to the 2024 Bassmaster Junior and High School National Championship begins in Anderson County as the South Carolina B.A.S.S. Nation Youth Series take on Lake Hartwell in the one-day event.
The tournament will be held out of Green Pond Landing and Event Center, which recently hosted the 2023 Strike King Bassmaster High School Fishing National Championship.
Boats will launch at 7am. The junior division will weigh in at 2pm. The high school division will weigh in at 3pm.
Tony Gray, tournament director, said he anticipates the opening trail event will draw 140 to 150 boats. In youth fishing, each boat contains two anglers and an adult designated as the boat captain.
Green Pond Landing and Event Center is located at 470 Green Pond Rd. in Anderson, about an hour from downtown Travelers Rest.
All events are open and free to the public.
