Game Preview: Devildogs vs. Riverside
TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – The Travelers Rest Devildog varsity football team will kick off the 2023 season at home at Dean "Chico" Bolin Stadium on Fri., Aug. 18 in a non-region matchup against Riverside HS.
The Devildogs will be looking to avoid a repeat of last year, when Riverside won, 66-21, handing head coach Michael Lancaster the first loss of his coaching career.
This year's preseason standouts include quarterbacks Chase Thompson and Colby Epps; wide receivers Drew McKibben and Gavin Baker; linebackers Lucas Tankersley, Oliver Rowland, and Brody Pitman; defensive end Bryson Durham; running back Carter Buchanan; cornerbacks Ji Wiggins, Jordan Rice and Ace Evett; and kicker Parker Peace.
Riverside will be led by Georgia Tech-bound linebacker Marcus Downs.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Alumni will be recognized at halftime.
