Golden Regiment takes silver at state

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – On the heels of recently being named a Bands of America regional finalist, the Travelers Rest High School Marching Band placed second at the SCBDA 3A State Championships, held Saturday in Blythewood.

The Golden Regiment scored an 88.15 and also received the Caption Award for High Visual Effect. This was the second consecutive year the Golden Regiment made the finals.
"It has been my distinct pleasure to direct these incredible students," said Harrison Thornton, band director. "Our historic success this season is a product of a culture of excellence that has been developed over the time I have been the director here at Travelers Rest. Our culture is defined by certain principles: 1. If you can dream it, it is possible 2. The way we do one thing is the way we do everything 3. Be better everyday. I truly believe these students are the future of our community and will be the leaders of tomorrow. While our historic season has come to an end, the legacy these students have left behind will last a lifetime."
