Greenville County Schools updates athletic events safety requirements

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – Greenville County Schools this week announced changes to its athletic events safety policy.

"In light of recent events at athletic venues across the country, Greenville County Schools has updated its safety requirements for athletic events, effective immediately," officials said.

For all Greenville County Schools athletic events, the following requirements are in place to ensure the safety of all attendees:

  • Middle school students and younger must be accompanied by an adult 19 years old or older to every athletic event;
  • High school students must have a school-issued ID to enter an athletic event alone; otherwise, they must be accompanied by an adult 19 years old or older;
  • No loitering in any area; all fans need to sit in the home or visitor stands during the event;
  • Not following any of the rules outlined above will result in removal from the event without a refund.

As a reminder, there is a clear bag policy for GCS events.
