Lady Devildogs finish season with 34-2 record

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – After falling to the AAA state champion Wren Hurricanes, 1-3, on Tuesday night, the Travelers Rest High School Lady Devildog Volleyball team finished the 2023 season with a fantastic 34-2 overall record.

This season marked the Lady Devildogs' best record and longest playoff run in volleyball since 1986 and one in which they reached a #4 ranking in the state across all divisions.

"It has truly been an honor and privilege to work with such a dedicated group of players and parents," coach Heather Foster said. "Their hard work, loyalty, love for each other, and love for this game were evident in every moment of the season."

Season highlights include:

  • Coach Heather Foster, the 2022 Coach of the Year, was named the 2023 co-region Coach of the Year.
  • Madeline Frazier was a 4x All Region player and a 2x Region player of the Year and was named to the North/South All-Star Team and to the Hilton Head Island Bash All Tournament Team. Frazier led the state by racking up 1100+ assists, 450+ digs, 130+ kills, and 80+ aces this season.
  • Mahayla Law was named 2x All Region and was named to the North/South All-Star Team and to the Hilton Head Island Bash All Tournament Team. Law led the region and state by racking up over 700 digs this season.
  • Madison Camp was named 2x All Region, All State and to the Pink Out Woodmont All Tournament team. Camp has led the region and state by racking up over 350 kills this season.
  • Emma Bayne was named all region and was named to the Hilton Head Island Ball All Tournament Team and the Pink Out Woodmont All Tournament Team. Bayne has led the region in kills and digs for the past two years.
  • Caiden Johnston, one of two players with court time since her ninth-grade year, contributed as a six rotation player.
  • Ava Gillespie was pivotal throughout the season on the team's offense, with her hitting and blocking being a big key to the Devildog's success.
