Lady Devildogs volleyball team ranked #7 in state

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – The Lady Devildog varsity volleyball team (22-1, 5-0) moved into seventh place in the South Carolina MaxPreps rankings, it was announced this week.
Under the leadership of head coach Heather Foster, the Devildogs have racked up an impressive slate of wins in another fantastic season thus far: 22-1 overall and 5-0 (first place) in AAA region 3, garnering them their statewide top-10 status, mostly against 4A and 5A schools.
According to the recent MaxPrep rankings, the overall top 10 SC teams (as of Sept. 27) are:
- North Myrtle Beach (4A)
- Dorman (5A)
- South Aiken (4A)
- Lexington (5A)
- Wando (5A)
- Wren (3A)
- Travelers Rest (3A)
- Nation Ford (5A)
- Cardinal Newman (4A)
- Westwood (4A)

This past weekend at the Hilton Head Island Bash, the Lady Devildogs walked away with a second-place finish in the Gold Championship, losing only one match (to the AAAA South Aiken Thoroughbreds) the entirety of the tournament.
The ladies scored wins over Mount Vernon (25-13, 25-10), Philip Simmons (25-21, 25-11), Hilton Head (25-16, 22-25, #1 in pool), Beaufort (24-4, 24-8), Bluffton (25-14, 25-19), St.Vincent Academy (25-15, 25-10) and May River (25-13, 25-23) on their way to the Gold championship matchup.
Of note, Devildogs Emma Bayne, Madeline Frazier and Mahayla Law (pictured below) received All Tournament Team honors.

The Lady Devildogs will next take on region rival Carolina Academy in a match slated for Oct. 3. The next (and last) home team chance to see the ladies will be on Oct. 4 in a region matchup against Chapman. Seniors will be recognized following the varsity game.
Playoffs begin on Oct. 16.
