TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – A non-profit, private school for neurodiverse students which opened in fall of 2023 is currently accepting applications for 5th through 7th grade transfer students for the current academic year.
Located just outside Travelers Rest along the Swamp Rabbit Trail, Trailhead Community Farm School, a unique farm- and outdoor-based therapeutic day school specifically designed for students with autism spectrum disorder and/or attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder, offers a tailored learning environment for students along with ongoing support for families.
With a mission to empower kids who have experienced challenges in traditional academic settings, Trailhead specializes in personalized learning, therapeutic interventions, and outdoor experiences.
The school originally opened to serve 6th- and 7th-graders, but community feedback led to the addition of the 5th-grade class, according to Courtney Eidson, the school's founder and executive director .
"Our specialized programs and supportive community are designed to help students flourish academically and personally," Eidson said. "By focusing on students in 5th through 7th grade, we aim to provide a solid foundation for their educational journey, ensuring they have the necessary skills and confidence to succeed in their future endeavors."
In addition to the 5th- through 7th- grade program, Trailhead offers workshops, seminars, and community events focused on enhancing the family's emotional and social health, ensuring that parents and caregivers are equipped with the necessary tools and support to assist their child’s educational and personal journey.
